The Review:
Net Barrier X4 is without a doubt the premiere firewall for Mac OS X. With such an easy to use and intuitive interface it makes using the program very enjoyable. Setup is an absolute breeze as you can select one of the pre-configured profiles or customize rules to fit your security needs. If you want to launch the Net Barrier X4 interface simply access it via the icon that is placed up in the menu bar by the clock which also allows you to check for updates.
You can set a minimum level of protection or a fort knox level of protection and anywhere in between to fulfill your security needs. I have found that the default settings offer a great deal of protection and which is where I had left them.
Though Mac OS X is clearly a more secure operating system than Microsoft Windows having Net Barrier X4 provides you with that extra sense of security and reassures you that your system is safe from attackers. So if you are always a bit concerned about the security of your system then make sure to pick up a copy of Net Barrier X4 and put those concerns to rest.
